When a Raleigh AC Reaches the End
We size it to your home and install it to last
We’re Skyline Comfort Services, and we install and replace central cooling systems for homeowners across Raleigh and the Triangle. There comes a point where another repair just isn’t worth it: the system’s lost its efficiency, the bills keep climbing, and a breakdown feels like a matter of when, not if.
That’s where we come in. We help you weigh your options, size the new system to your actual home instead of a guess, and handle the installation from start to finish. One team, one standard, and a setup built to keep you cool for years. See examples of our completed AC installations.
Signs You Need AC Replacement
Your AC tells you when it's time
Here's the honest version: one bad day doesn't mean you need a new air conditioner, and we'll never rush you toward one. It's the pattern that tells the story. A few signs we'd watch for:
Compressors and coils give away a little every summer, and beyond this point, repairs tend to buy you months instead of years.
That refrigerant is phased out and expensive to recharge, so a leak on an R-22 unit usually points you toward replacement anyway.
Once one fix climbs that high, your money does more good in a unit that's under warranty.
Those stubborn hot-and-cold spots usually trace back to a system that was sized or installed incorrectly from the start.
Aging, low-efficiency equipment burns more power to move less cool air as it slowly loses capacity.
Add those repeated repair bills up, and they often cost more than a proper replacement would have.
Not convinced you’re there yet? Sometimes a smart AC repair or a seasonal maintenance tune-up buys you real time, and we’ll be the first to tell you when it does. When a system’s genuinely finished, we’ll lay out your cooling options with every price in front of you.
How Much Does AC Installation Cost in Raleigh?
It starts with a free in-home estimate, then the choice is yours
A new air conditioner is a real investment, so we start with a free in-home estimate, no charge to find out where you stand. From there, the price tracks the size your home actually needs, the efficiency tier you choose, and the shape of your existing ductwork. You'll see every option written down before you decide. If you'd rather not pay all at once, financing with Service Finance Company can break the cost into monthly payments, and qualifying Coleman systems earn Duke Energy rebates we file for you.
Free in-home estimate
We measure the home, check the ductwork and electrical, and put your options in writing. No charge, no pressure.
Right-sized, clear price
We run the load calculation, then write down standard, high-efficiency, and premium options so you choose with the whole picture in hand.
Rebates and monthly payments
Service Finance Company breaks larger jobs into monthly payments, and we file your Duke Energy rebate on qualifying Coleman systems.
Choosing the Right Efficiency Level
Every option on the table, no pressure
Our take: nobody here works to a sales quota, so we don’t make a dime more by steering you toward the top-shelf unit. We’ll show you what each tier costs, what it saves on your Duke Energy bills, and let you pick the one that fits your home and your budget.
| Compare | Standard | High Efficiency | Premium Variable-Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Tighter budgets, shorter stays | Most Triangle homes | |
| Efficiency | ~14.3 SEER2 (federal minimum) | 15 to 17 SEER2 | |
| Summer bills | Baseline | Noticeably lower | |
| Duke Energy rebate | Often not eligible | Frequently qualifies |
If a brand-new system is the right call, a Duke Energy rebate often covers part of a high-efficiency upgrade. Prefer to fix what you have? See AC repair.
Why Choose Skyline for Your AC Installation
What you get when owners do installs
Most systems that die early or never feel right were guessed at, not measured. Before we quote, we run the load for your square footage, windows, and ductwork, then commission the finished install, checking charge and airflow, so you get the comfort and the bills we promised.
Jon and Henry started Skyline to do installs the way they always wanted to. No investment group, no quotas, nobody pushing the priciest unit to hit a number. The same hands that quote your system are the ones setting it, because our name’s on the work.
Qualifying Coleman systems earn Duke Energy rebates, and we file them for you. Service Finance Company keeps the payments manageable, and we register your new system’s manufacturer warranty the day we finish.
“A planned replacement always beats a panicked one.”Free estimate, every price in writing, and the same accountable team on install day. It’s how a system lasts fifteen-plus years instead of becoming next summer’s problem. See what homeowners say about our installs.
The Skyline Comfort Services Story
Built in the Triangle, on word of mouth
Skyline isn’t a call center with a logo on it. Founders Jon Varela and Henry Amaya met at a large citywide HVAC company and got tired of being pushed to sell systems people didn’t need. So they built a company that does it the right way.
They built Skyline on word-of-mouth and Nextdoor recommendations, focused on honest work and helping homeowners understand their systems. On an AC installation, that means the same owners who quote your system are the ones who set it, not a sales pitch from a stranger.
How an AC Installation Works
From first measurement to final walkthrough, in four steps
Four steps, start to finish. Here's exactly how a replacement with us goes.
We measure the home, look over your ductwork and electrical, and ask how you actually use each room, then put your options in writing. No charge, no pressure.
We run the load calculation and walk you through standard, high-efficiency, and premium systems, what each one costs, saves, and earns back in rebates.
We protect your floors, pull the old system, and set the new one, wired, sealed, and charged to spec. Most standard replacements wrap in a single day.
We test airflow, refrigerant charge, and the thermostat, register your warranty, file any Duke Energy rebate, and show you exactly how everything runs before we head out.

AC Installation FAQs
Quick answers before you call
Still have a question? We'd rather you just call and ask.
Call (919) 295-2207Should I repair my AC or replace it?
If it’s more than 10 to 15 years old, needs a big-ticket part like the compressor, or runs on R-22, replacing it usually wins. Newer AC with a minor fix? Keep it.
How much does a new AC cost in Raleigh?
Most full replacements here run $5,000 to $12,000, depending on size, efficiency tier, and ductwork. You get a firm, written number at a free estimate, with monthly payments available through Service Finance Company.
What size system do I actually need?
Not the biggest. An oversized AC short-cycles, wastes money, and leaves your home humid. We run a load calculation on your square footage, windows, insulation, and ductwork, then size accordingly.
Do I need to replace my ductwork too?
Maybe. Leaky or undersized ducts can quietly undercut even a brand-new system, so we check them at the estimate and recommend ductwork only when it genuinely earns its cost.
Will a new system qualify for Duke Energy rebates?
Qualifying high-efficiency Coleman systems do, and we handle the rebate paperwork for you, so the savings actually reach you.
What brands do you install, and are you licensed?
We’re a dealer for Coleman, American Standard, and Goodman, and install central AC, heat pumps, and gas packs. Fully licensed and insured: NC HVAC License L.37225 and EPA 608.
